ARROW Preview: “Seeing Red” (Roy, Romance and Rampage, Oh My!)

arrow seeing red

First the bad news, Roy (Colton Haynes) wakes up. Yeah, that shouldn’t be the bad news. But this is the episode where Roy goes on a rampage and Starling City takes a heavy beat-down in the process; and the city is not the only victim as when Oliver (Stephen Amell), Sarah (Caity Lotz), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Sin (Bex Taylor-Klaus) all try to help Roy, they come away wondering if there is anyone who can stop Roy. So at a time when everyone should be solely focused on taking down Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett), it is one of their own that they are tracking and battling.

But before their internal war breaks out, Oliver and Sara take a beat to enjoy a private moment and start to discuss their future. But can superheroes ever really have futures? Must they live their lives only one day at a time? This ongoing conversation between Oliver and Sara reveals all the doubts and the excitement that they go through looking ahead.

This episode also features some very illuminating flashbacks to a time before Oliver was on the island and what those flashbacks show will reveal something quite surprising. For just who was Oliver Queen before he was stranded on that island? That answer will really shock some fans. Plus, it demonstrates just how well Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson) knows her son and what lengths she will go to in order to protect him.

Also featured in this episode is the mayoral race, as it heats up between Moira and Sebastian Blood (Kevin Alejandro). Both have a very unique perspective to offer in running Starling City and each surprisingly seems to appreciate and value their opponent’s contribution. But since when did everyone start getting along?!

However, all of that is but a mere backdrop to the problems they face with Roy. Everyone will be hard at work to find a way to stop Roy and bring him back to his senses. The ultimate questions will be: Is Thea’s (Willa Holland) life at risk from the man she loves simply because he is under the Mirakuru? Can anyone get through to him before it is too late? And will they be forced to kill Roy in order to save everyone else?

Hint on what to watch for in this episode: bodyguards and the price of secrets.

This week’s episode of ARROW is indeed a roller-coaster of events and emotions. But that is to be expected in a world where serums can create superhuman armies and heroes must wear masks to protect everyone. “Seeing Red” airs this Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. on the CW (CTV in Canada).
