CEDAR COVE Preview: Season 2 Returns With More Small Town Romance

After a highly successful first season, Hallmark Channel’s CEDAR COVE comes back for its second season with more heart-warming small town stories, both with a lovely dose of romance and good old-fashioned justice. At the heart of CEDAR COVE is municipal court judge Olivia Lockhart (Andie MacDowell) and, in Season 1, after divorcing her husband and reclaiming her independent and zest for life, Olivia fell in love with the town’s newest newspaperman, Jack Griffith (Dylan Neal). Love seemed to be in the air in Season 1, with Olivia’s best friend Grace Sherman (Teryl Rothery) also began tentatively wading into the dating pool with local rancher, Cliff Harting (Sebastian Spence). Then also falling under Cupid’s spell were Olivia and Grace’s full-grown daughters, Justine (Sarah Smyth) and Maryellen (Elyse Levesque). Justine was caught up in a tug-of-war for her heart between her former fiancé Warren Saget (Brennan Elliott), a local land developer and businessman, and Seth Gunderson (Corey Sevier), a fisherman looking for a way to create a business that would keep him on land. Maryellen’s eye was caught an artist, John Bowman (Charlie Carrick). But as always with affairs of the heart, the path of true love is not as easy as expected. Everyone had some deep soul-searching to do about their true feelings and who they wanted to spend their life with.

For Olivia and Jack, that led them to a much happier place and their romance flourished. For Grace and Cliff, they are still taking it one step at a time and letting their feelings develop as they get to know one another. Justice decided to follow her heart and joined Seth in his new business venture, which unfortunately had a few hiccups. And Maryellen’s romantic life remains a bit more tenuous and hopefully she will find a strong path to love in Season 2.

Then rounding out their world are the loving couple, Bob (Bruce Boxleitner) and Peggy Belden (Barbara Niven), the good-natured and generous owners of a local inn. Between all of them, they have their fair share of adventures with familiar faces and newcomers constantly coming to town. Surprisingly, Olivia’s judgeship is called upon more often than not to help out with even the simplest of disputes. But with her cool, levelheaded spirit, Olivia is able to persuade nearly everyone into an amicable resolution.

So CEDAR COVE returns with more romance, more cases to see that justice is served and more love to share amongst their tight-knit community as calamities strikes and people need their help.

Ratings for Hallmark’s first scripted drama CEDAR COVE declared the show an immediate hit. It was thus to everyone’s delight that Hallmark renewed the popular series for a second season.

So you are invited to join CEDAR COVE and all its charming residents again for Season 2, which premieres on Saturday, July 19th at 8:00 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel. It is a show that will genuinely touch your heart.
