Rita Volk Previews Tonight’s Episode of The MTV Breakout Hit FAKING IT

Last week was the highly anticipated season premiere of the MTV breakout hit FAKING IT. Viewers anxiously watched as Amy tried to hide her one-night-stand with Liam (Gregg Sulkin) from Karma. (Katie Stevens) This week things get a bit crazier as the truth starts to unravel at Hester High. I caught up with one of the stars of the show, Rita Volk to talk about tonight’s episode.

Will we be seeing more of Lauren this week? How will she handle people knowing about her secret?
Rita Volk: Initially she is still very much ashamed of it and is afraid that she will alienate herself even more than she already is. She’s absolutely adamant about it staying a secret and will do whatever it takes. But with time Lauren starts becoming a lot more comfortable with the idea of it being out there. I think this secret has been such a painful burden on her shoulders that its almost a relief to have it come out.

Lauren is with a new guy in the promos for this week’s episode, what can you tell us about him?
Theo is a really great influence on Lauren. He’s a transfer student so he’s new to the school and thinks Hester is a little weird. He’s just trying to make the best of the situation. He’s very chill, very charming, and is definitely the opposite of Lauren in the sense that he is calming when she’s being her usual uptight self.

Liam really wants to tell Karma about what happened between him and Amy. Do you think he should tell Karma or do you think he shouldn’t say anything to her?
I don’t know if its a matter of should or shouldn’t but rather a matter of people not being able to hold something like that in for very long. It starts to fester and you want to get that secret out before the guilt kills you. But I think telling her would ultimately be the right decision, because Karma has the right to know. And I don’t think it would be a good start to their relationship, or any relationship, keeping a lie like that. Even if there are repercussions that can jeopardize everything, I think Karma should know what happened.

Will we see more songs from Katie featured in episodes in the near future?
Well, there’s going to be a lot of drama going around, so I’m sure Karma will find an opportunity sooner or later to write another song! Maybe we’ll have a musical episode where all her lines are just one big song….but in the meantime, there will be an episode where Shane, Lauren, and Karma audition for drama club, so there will be some more singing action happening.

What’s your favorite part about this week’s episode?
Karma and Amy are having a slumber party with Lauren, but of course it goes terribly wrong. The girls play a truth or dare game that gets ugly, so I was a lot of fun to play up the drama and ridiculousness that were some of the dares. Any time Amy and Lauren are in a room together, there is a lot of tension, and that’s always fun to play up.

What can you tell us about this week’s episode?
The fans are going to fall in love with Lauren’s character hopefully more than they already have. We see a vulnerability to her. Leila and Lisbeth are in this one, and they’re always hilarious. Also, Amy and Karma are continuing to navigate through this new dynamic that has been created since Amy confessed her love. They’ll have a very cute scene together where they try to figure out how to go back to things being the way they were. It’ll be a great episode, and they just keep getting better and better.

You can watch Rita on FAKING IT tonight at 10:30 on MTV.
