Initial Reaction: It’s too bad Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” regularly includes a sketch by the name of “Ew!,” because there’s no more of an appropriate title for CBS’ perverse new drama.
Conclusion: At PaleyFest, four people walked out after the cold open of “Stalker.” One guy just groaned intensely, causing an entire audience to laugh out loud.
The pilot’s great if watching women get drenched in gasoline and set on fire gets you off. Believe it or not, it’s a recurring go-to, as if seeing it just once wasn’t enough for those who cherish torture porn. And that’s what this is. Torture porn. Just like it’s lead in program, the ever reliable, and ever disgusting “Criminal Minds.”
I suspect “Stalker” will do well with the tens of millions who see no problem tuning into “Criminal Minds” year after year. I’ve seen enough, though. In fact, I’ve seen too much.
Oh, and before I forget, there’s a really tasteful moment where Maggie Q jokes about her family being stalked and murdered. This includes young children. Granted, it turns out she has no family, but still, I thought I should let everyone know what kind of hilarity “Stalker” ensues.
Watch Live, DVR or Skip?: Skip this show. Skip it because it’s indefensibly trashy, perverse, and worst of all, proud of it. Current events are nightmarish enough.
