FAKING IT Scoop: Rita Volk Previews Tonight’s Big Episode!

Big things happened last week on the sophomore season of the addictive MTV dramedy, FAKING IT. Not only did Amy find out about Liam’s (Gregg Sulkin) family secret, Karma (Katie Stevens) went and told the whole drama club that her and Amy weren’t really dating. Also, did I mention Laverne Cox was on the show? She was incredible, hilarious and hopefully a recurring character. This week things are bound to get messy! By the looks of this week’s preview it appears that Karma might know about Amy and Liam’s big secret. Watch tonight at 10:30 to see what happened!

I caught up with Rita Volk about Amy’s growth throughout the season, her possible friendship with Liam, and what we can look forward to on tonight’s episode.

What can you tell us about tonight’s episode?
Rita Volk: It’s really bittersweet. Amy is trying to re-live the friendship by taking Karma through a scavenger hunt of key moments of their friendship, but Karma isn’t interested in reliving their childhood. It creates a disconnect between them. It’s sweet but sad because they’re not ten anymore, they’re both growing up, and with that comes the fact that they’re developing different interests.

Do you see Theo and Lauren having a future together? What’s in store for them?
I totally see it, they’re very cute together, but I have no clue! And what I do know I can’t say.

Karma admitted to the drama club the truth about her and Amy’s relationship. Will she have to deal with the repercussions of that?
Slightly. It’s honestly not on Amy’s radar. Amy never really cared about what people thought, and even if the whole school shuns her, the only person Amy cares about shunning her is Karma. Her number one priority is making sure their friendship survives. For Karma, on the other hand, she does care. And she will have to deal with people knowing she lied. But there’s so much other stuff going on that it becomes the last thing on her mind, too.

Liam’s family secret was huge! Do you think that was a big bonding moment for him and Amy, and the start to a possible friendship?
I don’t know if they’re going to be best friends the next day, I don’t think so, but there is definitely a new understanding between them. Their relationship has been nonexistent up to this point, mostly because Amy hates everything Liam represents. But when she sees this new side of him, she definitely feels bad for him and about the fact that she’s keeping him and Karma away from each other.

The preview for this week made it seem like Karma found out about Amy and Liam. If Karma did find out do you think their friendship could ever recover from that?
I’ve gotten that question a lot. I think given the circumstances and how jumbled everyone’s emotions and intentions were, there’s a chance they’ll get through it. No one did anything vindictively. They were all kind of a victim of their circumstances. You feel bad for everyone in the situation.

How do you think Amy has changed since the pilot?
I think she’s much more aware of herself, and hopefully more confident as well. She still has a long way to go, but she’s becoming more comfortable in her skin and her sexuality. She was a lot more innocent in the beginning, just in terms of owning her identity. I’m excited to see her grow.

You can watch Rita on FAKING IT tonight at 10:30 on MTV.
