Funny Business: Rita Volk Previews Tonight’s Must-See Episode of FAKING IT

Last week things got a little heated between Karma (Katie Stevens) and Amy (Rita Volk). Karma realized although she may not have feelings for Amy she doesn’t like the idea of having to share her with someone who might. Karma’s jealousy made for an awkward “group hang” as Shane (Michael J. Willett) would call it. This week we’ll hopefully get to see some more of Amy’s new relationship with Reagan, (Yvette Monreal) and if all goes well, no more fights between Karmy! I caught up with Rita about tonight’s episode and it’s definitely one you do not want to miss!

Do you see Shane and Duke going public anytime soon?
Rita Volk: I don’t know about anytime soon, but Duke definitely has feelings for Shane, and vise versa, so I’m interested to see where it goes… We don’t know!

Is Karma going to give Amy some space in the near future? I mean she carries around her EpiPen.
I know right? I think she definitely takes home the best friend award. She’s really going to try. Within the timeframe of the show, Amy and Karma have never been this apart from each other, in terms of just different interests and emotions. But it makes sense because they’re both growing and becoming adults. They’re going to find themselves separately because they’re two different people. It’s scary for both of them. I think it’s a universal thing that happens in every close friendship, though. So they’ll be ok. Karma is warming up to the idea that maybe someone else should carry the EpiPen once in a while.

During the communal dinner Amy and Liam’s secret almost came out. It seems like it’s just a matter of time. Will we see that play out soon?
I can’t say too much about that, but let’s just say something hits the fan.

Aside from Amy, what character do you think has shown a lot of growth in the past couple of episodes?
I think Lauren, (Bailey De Young) absolutely. She was never intended to just be the mean girl. There’s this whole new vulnerable side we’ve never seen of her, and I think the fans really like it. Now with the intersex storyline, people can relate to her on such a personal level, whereas in the beginning she was more the snappy comedic relief. I think out of all of us, her character had the most dramatic evolution. And Bailey is so great at doing both I love watching her. She’s still sassy and abrasive, because we wouldn’t have it any other way, but now she’s showing a little bit of heart. And that always makes the villain interesting.

Can we assume Lauren and Theo (Keith Powers) are a couple now?
In last week’s episode they seemed like they sort of figured that out what they are.
With Lauren it’s hard to assume anything because she can push someone’s buttons real fast, but they seem to be OK for now. Oh, but Theo has this secret…oh, and no I can’t say anything about it.

What can you tell us about this week’s episode?
Well, Amy enters into a beauty pageant, which no one was ever expecting. There’s a lot of hair. Big, big hair and Amy in heels, major awkwardness ensues.
