For Canadian Eyes Only: AIR FARCE New Year’s Eve Returns!

Press Release: The Farce awakens… 2014 is almost over, but not before the year’s biggest stories are subjected to the AIR FARCE NEW YEAR’S EVE treatment. From Polar Vortex cold to Olympic gold, from soccer’s World Cup to body cameras on cops, Canada’s favourite comedy troupe is back, turning pipelines into punchlines, with an ALL-NEW special featuring their take on the year’s biggest stories.

Tune in on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 8:00 PM (8:30 NT) as Don Ferguson, Luba Goy, Craig Lauzon, Alan Park, and Penelope Corrin return to CBC with two new cast members—Second City alumnus Darryl Hinds and the multi-talented Aisha Alfa—and a line-up of famous Canadians ready to join in the fun.

Liberal leader Justin Trudeau gives his thumbs-up to the year’s biggest movies; YouTube superstar Lilly Singh (Superwoman) avoids her parents’ New Year’s Eve curfew; Heartland star Amber Marshall saves the ranch from the path of the Keystone pipeline; and it’s all downhill when Canadian Olympic heroes Maxime, Chloé, and Justine Dufour-Lapointe introduce their fourth skiing sister.

Jon Montgomery stars in The Amazing Race’s new spin-off, where Canada’s political leaders run for office—literally—with special appearances by this summer’s winners, Mickey Henry and Pete Schmalz, as well as celebrity chef Vikram Vij from Dragons’ Den. And topping off Canada’s favourite comedy countdown, we welcome singing sensation Nikki Yanofsky for the annual dropping of the infamous F-Bomb. AIR FARCE fans took to our website to tell us their most annoying and irritating targets of the past year; the top five picks get a richly-deserved bomb filled with monstrously messy guck dropped on them from 50 feet above.

In between, AIR FARCE NEW YEAR’S EVE covers the Franklin expedition discovery, cleans up BC’s Mount Polley mining spill, and toasts the Scottish referendum. The Walking Dead crew fight a virus worse than zombies, we’re introduced to the new NHL under Rogers’ rule, celebrity photo hackers get a taste of their own medicine … plus lots more in this fast-paced hour.

More and more Canadians start their New Year’s Eve celebrations with AIR FARCE; last year, over 1.8 million Canadians laughed out the old with our hilarious spin on the top stories of the year. You’re invited to this year’s party: watch on December 31st at 8:00 PM, and follow us on Twitter (@AirFarceCBC) for lots of live tweeting (Eastern time zone only).
