Meet Josh ‘JDA’ Davila: Former AMERICAN IDOL Contestant Transitions From Male to Female

By: Nick Edsall

It’s the ultimate ‘American Idol’ makeover!

Jaidah Christina Davila — who competed in the “male” category under the name Josh JDA back in season 12 — has successfully completed her transition into becoming a woman.

She even has a crisp new U.S. Social Security card to prove it.

“I don’t even recognize the person that I used to be on ‘Idol,’” the singer said in an interview with TheTVPage.com.

“I am not just cross-dressing anymore.”

“I am not this gay, feminine boy. I am actually now on hormone replacement therapy. I have been for a year and a half.”

Jaidah, who now performs in a Chicago nightclub, admitted she kept the hormone therapy secret from her mother until just three months ago.

“She knew that I was cross-dressing and wearing makeup and heels and being this very feminine person,” she said.

“She didn’t know that I was injecting myself two times a week.”

In the interview, Jaidah also said that she does not plan to watch the upcoming season of ‘American Idol’ — because her own experience with the show was so emotionally scarring.

“I was traumatized psychologically by being on TV and having something in the palm of my hands and then having it taken away,” she said.

“That really messed me up for a while.”
