Sport stars don’t usually make for the best of actors but that doesn’t stop them trying. In fact, on the odd occasion, they actually make for decent television. Below are some of the best cameos from some of sport’s greatest players.
Tom Brady – Entourage

It has been a turbulent year for Tom Brady. The New England Patriots quarterback won his fourth Super Bowl but has also landed in trouble. His role in “Deflategate” has seen him banned for the first four games of next season. One of the only perks he will have from his time off is the ability to go and watch Entourage the movie. His cameo in the hugely popular TV series is one of the best of all time, especially when Johnny Drama absolutely destroys his custom-made driver.
Jeremy Roenick – Arli$$

Jeremy Roenick may have made his name with the Chicago Blackhawks, who at the time of writing are 4/1 with bet365 to win the Stanley Cup – but he also tasted success on the small screen. He went on to make three cameo appearances in Arli$$, an American situation comedy based around the endeavours of a sports agent. The outspoken ice hockey player made for television gold.
Bret Hart – The Simpsons

Back in the 1990s, Bret Hart ruled the world of wrestling, winning what was then the WWF World Championship on five occasions. In 1997, he crossed over into the world of animation and made a zany cameo appearance in The Simpsons. He bought the bankrupt Mr Burns’ house and insulted him for good measure. That was the brightest moment of Hart’s year as later on he fell victim to the infamous Montreal Screwjob.
Bill Buckner – Curb Your Enthusiasm

One of the funniest shows to ever grace television, Curb Your Enthusiasm, the brainchild of Larry David of Seinfeld fame, featured numerous sporting cameos over the years. Buckner will always be remembered for his terrible throw in the 1986 World Series, something that he poked fun at in his cameo, failing to catch Larry’s throw. Considering the amount of grief Buckner got for that dodgy throw, it is great to see that he is capable of poking fun of himself.
Bo Jackson – The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was comedy gold, sending Will Smith’s popularity to stratospheric levels. It is yet to come down. Bo Jackson is quite frankly a sporting freak. He is the only man to be named an All-Star in two major American sports, football and baseball. His appearance in the Fresh Prince was also on point. Appearing in one of Will’s dreams, the phenomenon asks his good friend, Will, for advice on what to cook at a party, stating that “when it comes to cooking, Bo don’t know diddly.” Comedy gold at its finest.
