Marvel’s LUKE CAGE has just added two new cast members: SONS OF ANARCHY alum Theo Rossi and Simone Missick.
According to Deadline, Rossi is rumored to be playing a character named Sonny, who is described as “relentless and menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling.” A far cry from his Sons of Anarchy character, Juice. “Sonny”, as it turns out, is a code name for Shades, a criminal from the Marvel Comics universe, and one of Luke Cage’s many enemies. The name Shades is due to the optic blasters worn by the character, who was imprisoned with Cage before escaping with his partner, Comanche.
Missick will be playing Missy Knight, who in the comics frequently joins forces with Luke Cage and Iron Fist and served as a member of The Defenders in one incarnation of the team. Knight lost her arm in the line of duty as an NYPD police officer, preventing a bomb attack in the process. After resigning from the force, she received a bionic arm from Tony Stark and went on to start a detective agency with her friend Colleen Wing. Knight and Iron Fist even became romantically involved during the time she and Wing teamed up with him and Luke Cage.
LUKE CAGE began filming this week in Queens and is set to be released in 2016.
