24 and NIKITA star Xander Berkeley is heading to THE WALKING DEAD for a potentially long-term stint according to TVLine. He is set to join the cast in a top-secret role that sources confirm is not Negan, although his character shares some of the same characteristics as the famous baddie. His character is described as:
“Narcissistic, egotistical, quick to braggadocio and anger, his own skin is his principal concern. He feeds off the superiority of being in control, but he plays it off with Senator-like charm. He’s vibrant, and has the charisma of a car salesman.”
Comic fans are already speculating that he’ll be playing Hilltop leader, Gregory. Gregory, who first appeared in Issue 95, betrays Rick to The Saviors in order to ensure his safety only to be hanged by the Hilltop people for the attempted murder of Maggie. Berkeley will debut during the second half of the sixth season, with a deal that carries a series-regular option for season 7.
THE WALKING DEAD premieres Oct. 11 at 9PM on AMC.
