As a result of what has become an all-too common occurrence as of late, television stars and executives have been forced to make some changes in response to Friday’s tragedy in Paris.
On the talent front, both SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and LATE SHOW host Stephen Colbert pressed paused on their usual antics to take a moment to address the situation. The latter chose to close his show with some exasperated words (click here for a behind-the-scenes account) while the former swapped their traditional cold open for a bilingual message of solitary (See videos below)
Meanwhile, on the scheduling front, U2 postponed Saturday’s performance that was scheduled to be filmed for an upcoming HBO special as part of their European tour while CBS announced that their terribly-timed-terrorist-heavy-one-two punch of SUPERGIRL and NCIS: LA that were set to air on Monday, have been grounded “out of sensitivity and respect to the events that occurred.” To wit, noted NYTimes columnist Dave Itzkoff tweeted in response to CBS scheduling move, “If we postpone every CBS show in which someone is taken hostage or something explodes, the network will be dark 6 nights out of 7.”
