“TELENOVELA is a workplace comedy set behind-the-scenes of a Spanish soap opera,” teases star Eva Longoria of the new NBC comedy. Longoria plays Ana Sofia, the star of a very popular Spanish language soap. But there’s just one very big problem: she doesn’t actually speak any Spanish.
Actually, Ana has a few more problems as well: she’s got a new boss, she has jealous castmates and her ex-husband has just been hired on as her new on-screen love interest.
Despite the obvious heightened behavior for comedy’s sake, Longoria says that this series deals with every day workplace themes: “workplace competitions, jealousy, dating, [and] divorce.” TELENOVELA also stars Jencarlos Canela, Diana Maria Riva, Jose Moreno Brooks, Alex Meneses, Amaury Nolasco, Jadyn Douglas, and Izzy Diaz.
A special one-hour preview of TELENOVELA will air on December 7 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. TELENOVELA offically premieres on Monday, January 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.
