BILLIONS is about the struggle between two powerful men. On the one side you have Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, a self-made hedge fund manager who may or may not engage in some shady business practices on his way to the top — although, that doesn’t negate his clever eye for business. On the other side you have U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades, a man “of the people” who likes to take on cases that he can win. One day the SEC tells Rhoades that several men involved with Axelrod may have engaged in insider trading and Rhoades starts laying out a plan to take the big man down.
Both men are supported by equally powerful and engaging wives. Lara Axelrod came from nothing, just like her husband, but is ferocious, clever and protective. Wendy Rhoades, meanwhile, is the performance coach at Axe Capital and believes very deeply in Axelrod, which puts her at odds with her husband.
