Season 2 of AMERICAN CRIME opens with Taylor Blaine, a teenage boy from a low socioeconomic household who is attending an elite private school on scholarship. Shocking photos of Taylor are posted online, prompting the school to suspend him for behavior outside of its student code of conduct.
But all is not what it seems. These are not simply photos of a teenage boy getting drunk at a party. Taylor insists that two members of his school’s championship basketball team — Kevin LaCroix and Eric Tanner — drugged and assaulted him and then posted the photos of him online.
Taylor’s mother, Anne, supports her son wholeheartedly when her son tells her that he was assaulted. She approaches Headmistress Leslie Graham to notify the school of what happened. And while Leslie tells Anne that they will investigate the matter and take it seriously, she also seems interested in keeping the matter quiet. And Anne is fighting for her son’s voice to be heard.
Suddenly issues of sexual orientation and socioeconomic status are exploding throughout this small community. The basketball team’s head coach, Dan Sullivan, is trying to keep the team united, while Leslie tries to maintain the school’s reputation and insisting that there is no appearance of privilege and impropriety.
AMERICAN CRIME returns for its second season on January 6 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
