SUPERGIRL Sneak Peeks: Cry Uncle

Sometimes friends feel more like family.  Sometimes, family seems like the enemy.  That could be the situation for SUPERGIRL (Melissa Benoist) on tonight’s episode, “Blood Bonds.”

In the winter finale, arguably, the best episode of the season, Kara battled her embittered aunt, Astra (Laura Benanti), in a Kryptonian slugfest.  Astra’s husband, Non, swore to his wife that if she should perish, he would see SUPERGIRL die, as well.  Melancholy memories hampered the will of each woman to destroy the other.

However, Astra’s resolve to save Earth (by imposing her will, of course) has remained steadfast, and Non (Chris Vance) has assured his wife that he holds no such fondness for his niece, ensuring destruction of the Girl of Steel.

What does evil Uncle Non have in mind to assure Kara’s destruction?  He captures Hank Henshaw, the man who guaranteed Jeremiah Danvers that he would take care of the Danvers sisters if Jeremiah died.

Not privy to the conversation in which Hank told Alex (Chyler Leigh) that he actually is J’onn J’onnz, The Martian Manhunter, Kara may be more worried about Hank than necessary.  The Manhunter has a history of being able to take care of himself, despite his inability to read Kryptonian minds.

Although Kara, Lucy (Jenna Dewan-Tatum), James (Mehcad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) helped Cat (Calista Flockhart) solve her problems with CatCo’s board, her boss’ suspicions about SUPERGIRL’s real identity continue to plague Kara.  Grant is not the only thorn in Kara’s side tonight.  Glenn Morshower returns as Lucy’s father, General Sam Lane, and Peter Facinelli recurs as Maxwell Lord.

Guest starring tonight are Robert Gant, Briana Venskus, Christopher Showerman, Rey Hernandez, Ric Sarabia, Michael Albala and Hope Lauren.  “Blood Bonds” was written by Ted Sullivan and Derek Simon and directed by Steve Shill.

SUPERGIRL airs tonight (January 4) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
