TNT at TCA: RIZZOLI & ISLES to End With Seventh Season; TITANS is DOA

After announcing a new TALES FROM THE CRYPT series along with a two hour horror programming block in partnership with M. Night Shyamalan, TNT had a few other announcements arising out of its TCA panel.

First, RIZZOLI & ISLES will end with its upcoming seventh season, network president Kevin Reilly announced. The show will be returning this summer for a shortened 13 episode season.

TNT has also opted to pass on TITANS, which was based on characters from DC Comics and revolved around a group of young superheroes-to-be. Akiva Goldsman (A BEAUTIFUL MIND) was attached to produce the show.

The cable channel has begun shifting its development focus toward more premium fare, closing deals for the miniseries THE ALIENIST, from TRUE DETECTIVE director Cary Fukunaga; ANIMAL KINGDOM, an adrenaline-charged drama about a Southern California crime family, starring Ellen Barkin; and GOOD BEHAVIOR, featuring a very different role for Michelle Dockery (DOWNTON ABBEY).

Several shows, including THE LAST SHIP, MAJOR CRIMES, MURDER IN THE FIRST and THE LIBRARIANS, have all been renewed.
