Showtime at TCA: SHAMELESS Renewed, I’M DYING UP HERE Picked Up & Premiere Dates Announced

Showtime made several announcements during its TCA presentation today. First up was the announcement that SHAMELESS has been renewed for a 12-episode seventh season. “SHAMELESS has clearly resonated with audiences as evidenced by their steady growth on Sunday nights over the past 6 years,” said Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks Inc. “We are extremely pleased with the creative work being done by John Wells, Nancy Pimental and the entire cast, producers and writers – and we so appreciate SHAMELESS’ clear and distinctive voice.”

The network also announced premiere dates for two returning series. HOUSE OF LIES will return on Sunday, April 10th at 9 PM ET/PT and PENNY DREADFUL will air its season premiere on Sunday, May 1st at 10 PM ET/PT.

Finally, Showtime announced that it has picked up I’M DYING UP HERE to series. “Set in L.A.’s celebrated, infamous stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s, during which the careers of many of the comedy superstars began, the series delves into the inspired and damaged psyches that are required to stand alone in front of an audience and make them laugh”. Jim Carrey serves as executive producer and I’M DYING UP HERE stars Academy Award® winner Melissa Leo (THE FIGHTER), Ari Graynor (FOR A GOOD TIME CALL), Clark Duke (THE OFFICE), Michael Angarano (THE KNICK), Andrew Santino (MIXOLOGY), RJ Cyler (ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL), Erik Griffin (WORKAHOLICS) and Stephen Guarino (HAPPY ENDINGS) as part of a large ensemble cast.
