NCIS: LOS ANGELES Sneak Peeks: What’s In Your Computer?

Ever get one of those spam emails in which the Nigerian prince offers you money?  Your inclination is to delete it, right?  Does deleting the email guarantee your safety from worms and viruses?

And what if you see that scary word “daemon” pop up on your computer?  Looks like the guys from SUPERNATURAL should be headed your way.

Could a daemon be a motive for murder?  Tonight on NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Sam (LL Cool J) go undercover to scrutinize a possible deadly situation at a tech company.

Posing as “angels” (venture capitalists with a lot of money to invest), the partners actually are there to investigate the murder of a tech entrepreneur who became a venture capitalist before his demise.

The suspicion is that the deceased developed a computer program that allowed data collection from certain sites without detection.

In other words, are social media accounts as friendly as you think?  Are there background programs running on your computer’s operating system that can invade your privacy?   Do you really have control over what it can or cannot do with your information?

After all, the daemon is named after a supernatural being that works in the background, sometimes good, sometimes bad, and sometimes just sorting information, depending upon the philosophy.  Check out Plato and Socrates for more.

Fun moments…Kensi (Daniela Ruah) calculating the origin of a shooting by doing complex math as Marty (Eric Christian Olsen) watches, both impressed and a bit dumbfounded.

Also funny is O’Donnell’s parody of a rich, childlike (or childish, depending upon your view of such things) techie who scoots about on his hoverboard with very little regard for those in his wake.

After tonight, will you look at your smartphone the same way ever again?

NCIS: LOS ANGELES also stars Linda Hunt, Barrett Foa, Renée Felice Smith and Miguel Ferrer.   Guest starring in tonight’s episode, “Angels & Daemons” are Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Galadriel Stineman, Abhi Sinha, Dove Meir, Lance Irwin, Eddie Perino, Scott Michael Morgan and Sam Hale.

“Angels & Daemons” was written by Andrew Bartels and directed by James Hanlon.

NCIS: LOS ANGELES airs ton January 18 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
