There’s a famous song that begins with the lyrics “Well the Devil went down to Georgia, He was lookin’ for a soul to steal…” In LUCIFER — the new drama on Fox — the devil isn’t really looking for any souls to steal. In fact, he’s taken a little sabbatical from ruling hell and tormenting souls and is running a hot club in Los Angeles.
Enter Delilah, a successful singer that was helped in her career by Lucifer. She visits him for a late-night chat to discuss her life thus far and then gets gunned down in front of him. When LAPD Chloe Decker comes by to investigate, Lucifer becomes intrigued with the possibility of solving Delilah’s murder and punishing the criminals. Chloe begrudgingly takes him on as a temporary partner when it’s clear that he’ll investigate without her permission regardless. As the pair investigate suspects, Lucifer is pulled between good and evil and Los Angeles and Hell.
