Olivia and her team deal with the “bystander effect” in this week’s LAW & ORDER: SVU. Sometimes, when a lot of people are potential witnesses to a crime, they often think that someone else will intervene or call the police and don’t bother to do so themselves.
That seems to be what happens in tonight’s episode when a woman is followed home and raped outside of her own building. Several neighbors witnessed the crime, but no one called for help, leaving the police at a loss on how to find the perps.
In case you missed the news, LAW & ORDER: SVU was renewed for an 18th season this week, which filled the producers with a bit of relief as they were apparently worried this season may be their last. If that was the case, they were hoping to get Chris Meloni back for the finale, according to THR. Could that happen in the eventual series finale? Only time will tell.
