SUPERGIRL Sneak Peeks: What’s In Your Computer?

SUPERGIRL, meet SUPERGIRL. Laura Vandervoort who played Supergirl on SMALLVILLE guest stars tonight as the DC Comics villain, Indigo, who can travel through the Internet.

In print, Indigo is a “descendant” of Brainiac, a supercomputer/android from Krypton who lied to the planet’s inhabitants about their world’s impending destruction, all while planning his escape.  He is one of Superman’s toughest foes throughout the canon.

One version of Indigo is Braniac 8, sent from the future to help the original Braniac battle Superman, the Teen Titans and wreak destruction on Earth.

In keeping with the supercomputer persona, Indigo wears the symbol representing a “font of omniscient knowledge” who knows everything and can assume both physical and digital forms.

When a thumb drive arrives at CatCo, the enclosed letter leads Lucy (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) to the conclusion that the information on the drive could be information from the hacked Ashley-Madison-style website that facilitates extramarital affairs.  Has her jealousy over James’s relationship with SUPERGIRL led her to investigating a path to confirming any infidelity?

Cat (Calista Flockhart) orders sycophantic assistant, Siobhan (Italia Ricci back tonight as the future Silver Banshee), to melt the thumb drive in the microwave.  Perhaps Cat is unsure if her own personal information may appear among the cheaters.

When Cat fails to run an article based on the information on the thumb drive, Indigo threatens to hack servers controlling utilities and finance.  Since computers run the world, even the military is not safe.

Cat assigns IT specialist, Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan), to fix the situation.  As he works on the code to stop the hacker, Indigo attacks Winn, Kara (Melissa Benoist) and James (Mehcad Brooks) by emerging from a computer screen into a physical entity.

As she hurls SUPERGIRL out of a window, Vandervoort has a chance to display some of the skills she learned on BITTEN, where she played a werewolf.  Hank (David Harewood) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) storm in and see Indigo evaporate into the ether.

How will Kara research this new threat to National City?  By accompanying James on a trip to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude where background on Braniac, Indigo and Krypton’s Kandor may be at her disposal.

What will she find at the Arctic ice refuge?  Is there a connection between Indigo and Kara’s Uncle Non (Chris Vance)?

SUPERGIRL also guest stars Briana Venskus, Jay Jackson, Patrick O’Connell, Kelly Chavers, Ruben Vernier, Sebastian Velmont, Nick Jaine, Carly Nykanen and Michael Hanson.

Tonight’s episode, “Solitude,” was written by Rachel Shukert (story) and Anna Musky-Goldwyn and James DeWille (teleplay).  Dermott Downs directed.

SUPERGIRL airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS (U.S.) and Global TV (Canada).
