Tom Kirkman (Sutherland) is the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development when DESIGNATED SURVIVOR begins, but he also happens to be the “Designated Survivor” — a cabinet member watching the State of the Union address from a secure location in case something happens to the President and those within the line of succession.
Naturally, something absolutely happens to the President and his successors — a bomb takes out the Capitol Building. Suddenly, Tom has a job he never campaigned for: President of the United States. As the Secret Service races Tom and his wife to the White House (and tracks down the couple’s two children), FBI Agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) begins her investigation into the Capitol Building bombing and discovers that the attack may just be the beginning.
DESIGNATED SURVIVOR will premiere this fall on ABC.
