“In a way, [Sam and Dean] always fight the good fight, no matter what they’re going through,” SUPERNATURAL star Jensen Ackles explains in an exclusive sneak peek from the show’s season 11 DVD/Blu-ray box set. In season 11 the brothers were had to fight the good fight after unleashing a primal and evil force on the world. In fact, it was the first evil force in existence: The Darkness. This being — also known as Amara — was “born” alongside God and acted as the darkness to his light.
But God locked her away from the world once he started creating the archangels and she had spent countless millennia stewing and waiting for her revenge. When the Winchesters unleashed her upon the earth, she spent the majority of season 11 trying to find her hidden brother and draw him out for a show-down.
In “The Winchester Mythology: Shedding Light on the Darkness” featurette on the show’s DVD/Blu-ray’s the cast and producers sit down to talk about how the Darkness fit into the show’s mythology and the sacrifices that the Winchesters were prepared to make in order to defeat her.
