Kiefer Sutherland is heading back to primetime TV as the world’s most unlikely president in ABC’s DESIGNATED SURVIVOR.
“My character, Tom Kirkman, goes from a guy who was on the way out to the President of the United States,” Sutherland says about his new show. In fact, Kirkman was a low-level cabinet minister who was chosen as the “Designated Survivor” during the President’s State of the Union address, despite the fact that the President was prepared to let him go that very morning. But a terrorist attack kills nearly the entire US government in one fell swoop, leaving Kirkman as the man in charge. While he’s doing his best at a job he never wanted, there’s a lot of resistence in the White House and the military as to whether he can actually lead the country in a time of crisis.
Meanwhile, Maggie Q plays Hannah Wells, an FBI agent who is called in to investigate the attack. “There is going to be a lot of conspiracy theory and a lot of twists,” Maggie Q warns.
