BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: Jake and Holt Adjust to New Lives in the Season 4 Premiere

Holt and Jake are stuck in Florida when BROOKLYN NINE-NINE returns for its fourth season this week and both men are settling into their new lives. Holt (a.k.a. Greg) is strolling with the older ladies in the morning before heading for his job at the arcade (where he’s angling for a promotion to assistant manager and his boss thinks he’s a stoner). Jake (a.k.a. Larry), meanwhile, is selling ATVs and pretending he’s just casual neighbours with Holt.

Their only contact to the outside world is Maya Rudolph as U.S. Marshall Karen Haas. She visits Coral Palms to make sure they’re still keeping up with their new identities and staying away from everyone they knew in their previous lives. She also delivers some bad news: they still haven’t found Jimmy “The Butcher” Figgis, so they’re going to have to remain in Florida indefinitely.

As it turns out, Jake has been extremely depressed about their life in Coral Palms (where the town’s claim to fame is the fact that mayors keep dying and no one knows why) and he’s been hiding a secret. When Holt discovers what that is, the pair engage in one of their hilarious fights, which eventually leads to a risk of discovery thanks to a potential viral video. But when they work together to track down the woman who filmed the video and engage in a little “police work”, they both realize getting back to their old lives might be the best thing.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE returns for an all new season on Tuesday, September 20 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox (U.S.) and CityTV (Canada).
