FREQUENCY: Meet the Characters

FREQUENCY, the new CW series based on the film of the same name, premieres this week. One of several new shows that focuses on time — whether time travel or messing with the past — FREQUENCY is also about the complicated bond between a father and a daughter. What happens when a daughter is able to save her father’s life in the past but changes her own future? That’s what the show is going to explore.

Here’s all of the major players that you need to know about:

Detective Raimy Sullivan (Peyton List) is one of the central characters of the show. She grew up with a single mother after her father’s death. She believes that her father went undercover, turned corrupt and got killed, so she has a lot of resentment towards him. But she also has an old ham radio belonging to her father in her garage. One night, after a storm, she finds herself able to speak to a man she later realizes is her father in the past. She eventually warns him about his impending death, which allows him to change the past. And, in doing that, she changes her own present.

Frank Sullivan (Riley Smith) is a man who loves his daughter more than anything, but he lost his wife and his daughter when he went undercover. Smith said there’s a suspicion that Frank is a dirty cop, but it seems that there’s more than meets the eye here.

Daniel (Daniel Bonjour) is Raimy’s attractive South African boyfriend. He’s an up-and-coming architect and the pair are terrific for one another. It seems that Daniel is also ready to take the next step with Raimy: marriage.

Satch Reyna (Mekhi Phifer) was Frank’s best friend and a fellow detective. When Frank died, Satch stepped up and became Raimy’s surrogate father. He also works with her on the police force.

Stan Moreno (Anthony Ruivivar) ran the undercover operation that eventually cost Frank his life. He was Frank’s only point of contact during his undercover missions. But like with Frank’s death, there’s an indication that there’s more to Stan than the image he presents to people.

Gordo Hersch (Lenny Jacobson) is Raimy’s long-time friend from childhood. He’s the more light-hearted aspect of the show and has been there for Raimy through the toughest parts of her life.

Julie Sullivan (Devin Kelley) is Raimy’s mother. Her separation from Frank and his subsequent death were hard on this nurse, but she’s a tough lady who learned quickly how to become a single mother.

FREQUENCY premieres tonight (October 5) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
