SUPERGIRL Sneak Peek: A Bird? A Plane? A Hit!

SUPERGIRL broke the sound barrier when it flew onto The CW scene last week. In an episode that introduced Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), Lex Luthor’s sister, Lena (Katie McGrath), Mon-El (Chris Wood) and Lex’s henchman, John Corben/Metallo (Frederick Schmidt) and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES’s Brenda Strong as the yet-unnamed CADMUS scientist, the show stepped up its game and soared in the ratings, taking The CW to its highest Monday 8pm ratings in eight years.

Winn (Jeremy Jordan) left CatCo to work at the DEO with Alex (Chyler Leigh) and J’onn (David Harewood), while Cat (Calista Flockhart) took the first steps toward a change in her life, as well.

Kara (Melissa Benoist) ended her budding romance with James (Mehcad Brooks) with the pair deciding to be friends, as Kara, having discovered who the SUPERGIRL side of herself is last season, will be on a journey to discover “who Kara is” this season.

The next step in that journey begins tonight when she officially becomes a reporter under the tutelage of her new boss, Snapper Carr (COUGAR TOWN’s Ian Gomez), who seems to dislike her and Supergirl.

John Corben, as the now super-strengthened Metallo, uses his body-powering Kryptonite (stolen from the DEO) to harm Supergirl, which was the point of contention between Superman and J’onn last week as they discussed Project Emerald. Tensions rise when the two men discover that the Kryptonite has been used against the Girl of Steel.

LETHAL WEAPON’s Floriana Lima makes her SUPERGIRL debut as National City Police Detective, Maggie Sawyer. Tonight’s episode, “The Last Children of Krypton” guest stars Paul Lazenby, Sachin Sahel and Rich Ting.

“The Last Children of Krypton” was written by Robert Rovner & Caitlin Parrish and directed by Glen Winter. SUPERGIRL airs tonight (October 17) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW in the U.S. and on Showcase in Canada.
