NCIS: NEW ORLEANS Sneak Peek: A Petty Bully

Bullying. Online or in person. A lot is being said about this despicable treatment of others, but the practice still seems to be on the upswing.

The most heinous situation of all is when the bully is in a position of authority.

The act of one person to threaten or torment another, whether physically or mentally, is the behavior of a petty, unstable person and the topic of tonight’s NCIS: NEW ORLEANS.

When Petty Officer Corey Marchand (guest star Kyler Porche) is forced to participate in a very questionable “drownproofing” exercise by his superior officer, Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Jolly (guest star Troy Winbush), Jolly pushes Marchand past his limits, and Marchand drowns.

Jolly’s flagrant disregard for others and his aggressively violent temperament results in the death of the young man who is training to become a Navy SEAL, and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS must investigate to find out why a person of such abhorrent nature has been put in a position of power and to prove that his reckless behavior has resulted in homicide.

Yes, homicide. Whether the death was intentional or not, Jolly’s reckless disregard should rule out that Marchand’s death was an accident.

There is a key piece of evidence in the case. Marchand’s roommate and best friend, Petty Officer Carl Hollister (guest star Donald Watkins) followed Jolly as he forced Marchand to return to the training area and pushed him into the exercise that resulted in his death.

Hollister risks divulging Jolly’s actions, despite peril to his own life…a “see something, say something” situation that could be as deadly for him as it was for his friend, especially since someone is covering up the reason for Marchand’s death.

With the perpetrator and others lying about the incident, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS not only has to investigate the events, the team also must determine how high up the food chain the bullying is condoned.

As part of her experience with NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Loretta hears of such questionable behavior, so when her son, Danny (guest star Christopher Meyer), considers foregoing college to enlist in the Navy, Dr. Wade is understandably concerned.

How will Pride (Scott Bakula) weigh in on Danny’s decision and how high does the cover up go? Does Steven Weber’s return to the show as Mayor Douglas Hamilton signal how high the scandal could reach?

“One Good Man” was written by Gwendolyn M. Parker and directed by Robert Greenlea.

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS airs tonight (November 15) at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
