BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: The Squad Embarks on a Manhunt in the Fall Finale

A prison van carrying 9 convicts overturns during an accident in the fall finale of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, releasing all of the prisoners on New York City. Captain Holt tells the squad about the escapees and Jake is thrilled about the impending manhunt, going so far as to recite a monologue from THE FUGITIVE. Jake soon issues Amy a challenge: whoever’s team catches the least escapees will have to give up their apartment when they move in together. Terry wants Jake to continue having his own space, so he teams up with him to win. Boyle, meanwhile, wants Jake to move into Amy’s apartment (which is two blocks away from his) so he teams up with her.

Back at the squad house, Holt, Gina and Rosa are investigating whether the crash was an accident or a deliberate escape. Soon the competition is tied and it’s a race to the last fugitive, which forces Jake to turn to a surprising ally (and familiar face): Doug Judy. Holt isn’t happy about one of his cops working with with a known criminal, but Jake believes he’s the only man who can lead them to the last escapee.

While Jake and Doug Judy team up to catch the last escapee, Charles tells the rest of the squad how hurt he is to be excluded from their text chain. Gina and Amy both hate how often he texts so they take it upon themselves to teach him texting etiquette. All of this leads to one heck of a cliffhanger to carry us through to the summer return of the show.

The one-hour fall finale of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE airs on a special night, Sunday, January 1, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
