Sadie Ellis (Katherine Heigl) has a complicated relationship with Billy Brennan (Steven Pasquale). When we first meet Sadie in the series premiere of DOUBT, we realize that this brilliant lawyer is engaging in some very questionable relations: she’s falling for her client.
Sadie is representing the brilliant pediatric surgeon Billie in a murder trial involving the death of his girlfriend many years ago. It’s been 24 years since the death of this young woman, but Sadie is convinced that Billie is innocent and she’s doing everything in her power to prove that. Billie comes from a wealthy family and he’s very altruistic with his time and his money, which convinces Sadie that he couldn’t be responsible for this crime.
But is Sadie right? Is Billie actually innocent or is he playing her along with everyone else? That’s one of the central questions of DOUBT, which follows Sadie and her fellow lawyers as they work for Isaiah Roth, a legal lion and “lefty” legend.
DOUBT premieres on Wednesday, February 15 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
