SUPERGIRL Sneak Peek: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly-In-Law

As SUPERGIRL propels toward the explosive end of its second season, cast and crew are in high gear with words and actions.

In a short-for-tall trade-off between The CW and NBC, SUPERGIRL takes THIS IS US child-powerhouse, Lonnie Chavis, who plays the younger version of CW alum, Sterling K. Brown’s character on “Us,” guest stars tonight as Marcus, a young man with a possible connection to alien telekinetic powers.

James, searching for the telekinetic Phorian as Guardian, befriends Marcus, and the child puts all his trust in James, forcing Guardian to stop the attacks on the city.

Mehcad Brooks should have his best opportunity of the season to show off his acting chops as James poignantly interacts with his small guest star.

On the other end of the poignancy spectrum, Teri Hatcher continues to chew scenery with evil glee (pun intended) as Mon-El’s mom, Rhea, and turning in some of her best acting work ever as she makes Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) life miserable.

Against the President’s (Lynda Carter) wishes, the good guys cannot fathom why the evil foreign ruler (Rhea) is being protected by the White House.

If that does not spell it out for viewers where SUPERGIRL producers stand politically, the last two episodes of the season are titled, “Resist” and “Nevertheless, She Persisted.”

Regardless of their political leanings, viewers should check out tonight’s SUPERGIRL. Hatcher looks like she is having a blast playing the almost-mother-in-law from Hell, and Brooks is sure to bring a few tears in his interactions with Chavis.

It all provides a big buildup to the last two episodes. Look forward to a super-fight between Superman and the Girl of Steel, the return of Zod and a funeral.

Expect to see fan favorites, Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant), Lynda Carter (President Marsdin) and Tyler Hoechlin (Superman) to return for guest shots starting next week.

Tonight’s SUPERGIRL episode, “City of Lost Children,” was written by Robert Rovner (story) and Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (teleplay). Ben Bray directed.

SUPERGIRL also stars Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, Floriana Lima, Chris Wood and David Harewood. Other guest stars are Andrea Brooks, Darcy Hinds, Sean Kohnke, Curtis Lum and Dominique Toney.

SUPERGIRL airs tonight (May 8) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW in the U.S. and on Showcase in Canada.
