ABC is the third network to present at the Upfronts and it picked up more pilots than any other network, beating CBS by two extra pilots and bringing 10 new shows to TV for the new season.
In addition to bringing AMERICAN IDOL back to television in the fall, you’ll also see other familiar faces on ABC, including Freddie Highmore (BATES MOTEL) on THE GOOD DOCTOR, Lea Michele (GLEE) on THE MAYOR and Kyra Sedgwick in TEN DAYS IN THE VALLEY. ABC is also introducing two new reality shows: DANCING WITH THE STARS JUNIOR and THE BACHELOR WINTER GAMES.

In terms of the schedule itself, FRESH OFF THE BOAT, BLACK-ISH and AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE are moving days or time periods. And the biggest move of all is ONCE UPON A TIME, which is moving to Friday nights for a season 7 “reboot” (the show will still have 22 episodes). In addition, QUANTICO is being held until midseason.
As for AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., it has been left off the fall schedule, but it will take on the Friday at 9:00 p.m. slot once MARVEL’S INHUMANS concludes its eight episode run. It will also consist of 22 episodes. There are also no details yet regarding the placement of AMERICAN IDOL on the schedule. ABC is still tinkering with the midseason schedule so they are unsure which day and time the show will air.
