FOR THE PEOPLE: First Look at ABC’s New Legal Drama Series

Shondaland is tackling the courtroom drama next season with WE THE PEOPLE. Set in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, aka “The Mother Court”, the show revolves around six new lawyers who are about to face off in the most prestigious, high-profile trial court in America.

Assistant Federal Public Defender Sandra is starting her first day as both a lawyer and a New Yorker when the show begins. She’s resourceful and sensible, but she chose to leave a Supreme Court clerkship and that decision has followed her to this new job. Her fellow public defender Jay definitely won’t let her forget that fact. Fortunately, Sandra’s best friend roommate Allison — also an Assistant Federal Public Defender — has her back.

They’re all coming up against Seth, a first-time Assistant U.S. Attorney, who is also in a relationship with Allison, and being adversaries with Allison and Sandra is a strain for him. Then there’s his cocky, case-stealing colleague Leonard and their fellow AUSA Kate.
