NCIS Season Finale Sneak Peek: Who Died?

NCIS fans…It is that time of year with which we have that love/hate relationship…The Season Finale.

We love that we will get 42 minutes of the best television of the year, and we hate that there will be 4 months without a new NCIS episode.

Executive producers promise that tonight’s cliffhanger, “Rendezvous,” will be a popcorn-crunching, breath-holding, action-packed adventure which could leave the fate of at least one NCIS team member in jeopardy.

We don’t doubt them. The promo (below) promises jaw-dropping drama. Witness…

…the thump of the helicopter rotors spinning in slow-motion

…the delay of the gun’s report between the firing pin strike and the crack of the bullet as it flies toward its target

…the muffled bass drum in the background that mirrors the beating of a heart that could be murmuring its last moments

…the slow, deliberate piano chords as they march through their discordant dirge

…the reverb that gives the voiceover and sound effects measured gravitas

And that’s just the promo, people!!!

I’m excited already!

Who is the child kidnapped by rebel terrorists whose father saved the lives of 4 Navy SEALS? Which team will sacrifice everything?

That alone has all the makings of a whiz-bang cliffhanger, but here’s more…

Set against the backdrop of Abby’s (Pauley Perrette) baby shower plans for the newlywed McGees, Tim (Sean Murray) is a bit overwhelmed at the thought of impending fatherhood.

Not only will he be a new dad, but his job often puts him in harm’s way.

Not the least of those situations is NCIS’s latest case…a missing Navy SEAL, who disappeared during an unsanctioned trip to South America and feared dead, may be alive. A fingerprint, a misinformed wife, and evidence that the SEAL may not be by himself sparks NCIS to send a team to Paraguay to retrieve the sailor.

Gibbs (Mark Harmon), McGee and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) ship out to south of the equator to investigate and end up in rebel territory, which is not where an expectant father should be. The investigation spins off into an unexpected direction, complicating the situation exponentially to its cliff-hanging, explosive season end that could leave someone’s life in danger.

Will Baby McGee come into this world after his father has departed it?

Remember…“One team with sacrifice everything.”

When EP Frank Cardea says, “You will not want to miss the last five minutes,” I respond with, “Sir, yes sir!”

But first, let me grab the popcorn. The clock is ticking!

NCIS also stars David McCallum, Rocky Carroll, Jennifer Esposito, Brian Dietzen, Emily Wickersham and Duane Henry. Guest stars include real-life twins Adolfo Alvarez and Alonso Alvarez, Emanuel Borria, Greg Bryan, Matthew Crowley, J. Claude Deering, Erin Krakow, Hans Marrero, Skyler Maxon, Sumalee Montano, Ethan Torres and Alicia Urizar. “Rendezvous” was written by Cardea and Executive Producers George Schenck and Steven D. Binder. Tonight’s season finale was directed by Tony Wharmby.

NCIS airs tonight (May 16) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and Global in Canada.
