ARROW: The Executive Producers Go Behind the Scenes of Season 6

ARROW ended last season with a cliffhanger, leaving the fate of most of the characters up in the air. According to producers Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim, the writers room came up with the idea for the big season finale episode. As the end of last season was all about closing a chapter on Oliver’s past, they believed that the giant explosion of Lian Yu would be a fitting end to the Prometheus story and Oliver’s journey.

Season 6 will leave the question of who survived up in the air, at least until we see the familiar faces again. But a big hallmark of the show — the serialized flashbacks — is now over. Oliver’s story of how he became the Arrow has now been told in full, so the flashbacks are no longer necessary. However, the producers wants fans to know that we’ll still be getting snippets of the past, just not necessarily the past that took place on Lian Yu. In fact, it’s possible that we’ll get to see other characters’ flashbacks with all this extra free time in the episodes.

In addition to answering the question of “who survived?”, season 6 will also introduce fans to a new villain — in fact, a team of villains. But one of the main ones will be Black Siren, who was introduced at the end of last season and played by Katie Cassidy. We’ll also be seeing a new facet of Oliver as he takes custody of his son, who will clearly be traumatized after losing his mother and the events on the island.

Watch the video with Mericle and Guggenheim below and tune in to the season premiere of ARROW on Thursday, October 12 on The CW.
