ONCE UPON A TIME Season 7 Premiere: Old and New Characters Gather for a New Story

A teenage Henry Mills is leaving Storybrooke in the season premiere of ONCE UPON A TIME. After being the author of other people’s lives, he’s determined to figure out where he belongs. And so he says goodbye to Regina, hops on a motorcycle, opens up a portal and rides off to another land. Then we’ve raced ahead many years and a grown-up version of Henry is riding his motorcycle through another realm. A crash with a carriage brings him face-to-face with Cinderella, only it’s not the same woman we’ve seen before.

In present day Seattle we see Henry again, this time he’s acting as a driver for an Uber-type company. But his rather mundane day-to-day existence is thrown into disarray when his young daughter, Lucy, arrives. Apparently he’s under a curse and doesn’t remember her. In fact, he doesn’t believe anything he did during his time in Storybrooke is real. But Lucy has a proposition for him: he should accompany her to Hyperion Heights, fall in love with his one true love (Cinderella) and regain his memories.

In other words, a new curse has overtaken our heroes on ONCE UPON A TIME and a new story is waiting to be told. This time it’s Lady Tremaine, Cinderella’s stepmother, who is the show’s big bad. We’re treading some familiar ground here as the show reboots itself — with Lady Tremaine standing in for a season 1 Regina, Hyperion Heights standing in for Storybrooke and Henry taking the old Emma role as skeptic. Henry and Cinderella are also acting as the Snow White and Prince Charming of this new world.

ONCE UPON A TIME returns for a new season tonight (October 6) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
