NCIS: NEW ORLEANS Sneak Peek: If I Only Had A Brain Implant

The writer, T. S. Eliot once said, “Most of the evil in this world is done by people with good intentions.” NCIS: NEW ORLEANS agrees.

Kelly Hu (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, ARROW, X-MEN 2) guest stars as Dr. Anna Yoon, Patton’s ex-wife.

When NCIS: NEW ORLEANS is called in to investigate after a clinical trial of brain implants conducted on veterans is hacked, Patton (Daryl “Chill” Mitchell) and Anna must find a way to work together on the case. Brain implants seem drastic, and the possibility of a hacker being able to command someone’s brain from a distance is something out of science fiction.

But look at it from Anna’s point of view… The plight of returning veterans is not a happy one. Coping during and after service is a huge issue, and the aftermath of mental health breaks is on the news much too frequently.

While the big events, such as the murders in a Texas church, make the national headlines, the shooter’s discharge from the Air Force for assaulting his wife and cracking his infant son’s skull seemingly fell through the red tape.

By some accounts, the temper issues with the shooter stemmed back to his life before the Air Force, but whether his time and experience in the service exacerbated that must be left to the experts.

It would seem, however, that the warning signs should have been a clue that issues needed to be addressed. Maybe everyone was just too busy.

The plight of veterans ranges from depression and suicide to violence and murder.

Brain implants…a little sci-fi. Talking, helping, showing that we care, not letting things fall through the cracks…closer to possible.

Granted, mental health treatment may or may not have helped in Texas, but it may help someone else. Please support the veterans in any way you can. Don’t be too busy.

Guest cast on tonight’s episode, “The Accident,” are Ajarae Coleman, Katherine Crawford, Reece Rios, David Lind, Steven Waldren, Jeremy Harrison, Tristan Tierce, Tahj Vaughans, Eduardo Losan, Vinicia Smothers and Ashley Winfrey.

“The Accident” was written by Ron McGee and Michael Gemballa and directed by Levar Burton (STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, READING RAINBOW).

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS airs tonight (November 7) in the U.S. on CBS at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT and at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT on Global TV in Canada.
