As celebrities get older, they often tend to shave a year or two off their birthdays. Not so with New Orleans. NOLA is going to be 300 next year, and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS is ready to party.

But before they can get the party started, Petty Officer Michael Thompson (guest star Onye Eme-Akwari) is beaten and murdered, shot in the head, execution-style.

When Thompson’s body is found on a park bench, a lead points law enforcement to a group of homeless children. Unwilling to take the evidence at face value, Pride (Scott Bakula) and the NCIS: NEW ORLEANS team raid the teens’ flophouse to help some of the kids avoid arrest by the NOPD until the situation can be investigated thoroughly. The sooner this case can be resolved, the better. Not only is Pride bucking the system (he just can’t help himself), the party is a-waiting.

Kicking off what promises to be many months of celebrating…alt-rock group, X Ambassadors, performs “Ahead of Myself” and “The Devil You Know” at a New Orleans Tricentennial Festival event.

Wonder if the French explorer Pierre Baptiste Le Moyne, who set up camp in Louisiana back in March 1699, or his brother, Jean Baptiste, who organized the city’s construction in February 1718 ever thought that their efforts would be celebrated 300 years later.

A grande dame like New Orleans would never shave a few years off her age. Why should she? She’s 300 and still beautiful.

Guest stars on tonight’s episode, “Hard Knock Life,” are Jowin Batoon, Mikelle Wright-Matos, Evan Parke, Will Peltz, David Iacono, Dragon Sumonja, Beth Bartley and Michael Forbs.

“Hard Knock Life” was written by Talicia Raggs and directed by Deborah Reinisch.

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS airs tonight (November 21) at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the United States and moves to the 10:00 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Global TV in Canada.
