ALTERED CARBON Preview: First Look at Netflix’s New Futuristic Series

Picture this: it’s 300 years into the future and no one really dies anymore. Why? Because people’s consciousness can be digitized and implanted into new human bodies (bodies which are grown and customized in a lab). Society has been transformed by all of this new technology and by the fact that death is no longer permanent.

This is the world of ALTERED CARBON, a new Netflix series that is based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan. The series focuses on Joel Kinnaman’s Takeshi Kovacs, a man who is reanimated in a new body after being “dead” for 200 years. A highly trained man, he was brought back to life by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) who wants to him a solve. Specifically, *his* murder, as Bancroft installed his mind and memories into a new “sleeve” (a.k.a. body) after his own death.

The 10 episode first season of ALTERED CARBON begins streaming on Netflix on February 2.
