ARROW Sneak Peek: A Matter Of Trust

“Thermobaric bomb.” The term is not in the headlines like ICBMs, so why is Oliver (Stephen Amell) so concerned for Star City? Cayden James (guest star Michael Emerson, PERSON OF INTEREST) has control of one, and seemingly has no end to his blackmail intentions or his need for revenge for his son’s death. And to be honest, he seems a bit…squirrely.

Cayden’s cohorts also have skin in this game. Richard Dragon/Ricardo Diaz (guest star Kirk Acevedo, THE WALKING DEAD, BAND OF BROTHERS, OZ) is a wildcard. Not exhibiting the best of intentions, Dragon could be what Grandma described as “just plain mean.” Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) whose affinity for Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) could outweigh her irritation at Team ARROW.

Then, there is Anatoly (guest star, David Nykl, (TOMORROWLAND, STARGATE: ATLANTIS). Stung by the breakup of his bromance with Ollie, the Russian seems content to deploy what his homeland refers to as the FOAB, or Father of All Bombs.

Referred to by the US Defense Intelligence Agency as the Mother of All Bombs (going for a gold star in diversity nomenclature, perhaps), the MOAB/thermobaric bomb is designed to kill humans more than architecture. Detonation results in a pressure wave which ruptures the lungs, causes debilitating burns and inhalation of burning fuel.

Guess that is why Oliver is worried…

And the only thing standing between James and detonation are an understaffed Team Arrow, a rogue cop and three ex-team members who do not trust Ollie. Having successfully infiltrated James’s organization, Dinah’s ex, Vincent Sobel/Vigilante (guest star Johann Urb, NCIS) could be the only way that Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) can access Cayden’s programming and subvert the bomb.

Vigilante already has won the support of Curtis (Echo Kellum), Rene (Rick Gonzalez) and Dinah (Juliana Harkavy), who trust Oliver even less than they trust Vince. John (David Ramsey) seems flexible given the situation, but Oliver, being Oliver, does not trust Sobel.

Check the effects of a thermobaric bomb, Ollie. Team Arrow needs all the help it can get. Is it time to bring Billy Joel back to ARROW for a chorus of “A Matter of Trust?”

Tonight’s episode of ARROW, “All for Nothing,” was written by Beth Schwartz & Oscar Balderrama and directed by Mairzee Almas.
