THE 100: The Cast Teases a Struggle to Return to the Earth

One group of our heroes on THE 100 have been stuck in space for more than six years: Bellamy, Raven and their friends on the ring. They witnessed a strange spacecraft headed towards Earth in the season premiere and now they’re wondering who these newcomers are. In tonight’s episode there’s another big reason for them to get back: the people on the ring become aware that their friends on Earth could be in danger from Diyoza and her band of fellow prisoners. To accomplish their mission, they head to Diyoza’s “mothership” to see if they can find the tools to return home.

Lindsay Morgan (Raven) explained that their plan to get back to Earth is “a Hail Mary kind of operation. I can’t say too much. It’s not necessarily ideal, I think, for anyone. There’s people that argue that they could stay on the Ring forever and they should and they make a good case for it, Monty especially. But then there’s other people like Bellamy, he needs to get back to his sister. So, it’s another rock in a hard spot situation. I’d say [Raven] takes it in stride because it’s her mission. It’s her sole mission. I think other people feel differently about it, but to her it’s very important that it gets done.”

Bob Morley (Bellamy) explains that “the decision to get to the ground is very much driven by his need to see what’s happening to his sister. He believes that Clarke has passed away and he doesn’t know any of this stuff [with her]. That’s the driving force for him — the hope that his sister is down there.”

And looking towards the future, Morley said that “The one that I think I was really excited to get into was the Blake relationship — the siblings — to see how they’ve both changed. They kind of had a bit of a reconciliation at the end [of last season], but it was over the radios and very brief and then radio silence. That’s one that’s really important to Bellamy. That kind of dictates a lot of his decisions as well. Because he’s pretty focused on that, that’s one that I also am gravitating towards. The Spacekru and that family unit is another thing that is deeply important to Bellamy and really drives the direction he takes this season.”

THE 100 airs tonight (May 8) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
