13 REASONS WHY Renewed for a Third Season by Netflix

The second season of 13 REASONS WHY ended on a cliffhanger — after stopping a traumatized student from committing a school shooting at a dance, Clay was left holding the student’s rifle as they sped off. What will happen next? We’ll have to wait until 2019 to find out, because Netflix has renewed the show for a third season.

The first season of 13 REASPNS WHY focused on the reasons why Hannah Baker committed suicide (told via tapes that she left behind), while the second season focused on Hannah’s parents suing the school for what happened to their daughter and the unmasking of popular jock Bryce as a rapist. How the third season will play out is anyone’s guess, although the almost-shooting and Clay’s possible arrest might play into it (assuming Clay doesn’t get rid of the gun before the police cars arrive.

What we do know is that Katherine Langford, who played Hannah, will not be returning. Feeling that the first two seasons (particularly season 1) told Hannah’s story. Which makes sense since we last saw her “spirit” seemingly cross over into an afterlife in the season 2 finale.

The 13 episode third season will continue to be written and produced by series creator Brian Yorkey.
