With GAME OF THRONES entering its final season next year, HBO is looking to continue the series in some way. The cable channel commissioned five possible spin-offs and today we learned that one of them — a prequel — has gotten a pilot order.
This series — from Jane Goldman (KINGSMAN, KICK-ASS) and author/GAME OF THRONES co-executive producer George R.R. Martin — actually takes place thousands of years before the events of GAME OF THRONES. According to HBO, “the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
Current GAME OF THRONES creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss will have no involvement with this project.
