BLACK LIGHTNING: Jordan Calloway Promoted to Series Regular in Season 2

Black Lightning is going to be in a world of pain in season 2 of his titular show. Today during BLACK LIGHTNING’s Comic-Con panel it was announced that Jordan Calloway will be promoted to a series regular in season 2. Jordan’s Khalil Payne/Painkiller was a high school all-American track star when we first met him. After dreaming of going to the Olympics, his hopes were dashed when a stray bullet severed his spine and left him unable to walk. Black Lightning’s arch-nemesis Tobias Whale offered Khalil a chance to walk in exchange for his loyalty and turned the boy into a living weapon that generates an anesthetic from his body that causes temporary paralysis when delivered through darts.

Showrunner/executive producer Salim Akil said, “I’m thrilled to have Jordan upped as a series regular. He was a great asset to our show in the role of Khalil/Painkiller during season one, and now that he has evolved into Painkiller, I can’t wait for you all to see him in season two.”

BLACK LIGHTNING’ returns for season 2 on Tuesday, October 9 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
