Netflix has acquired the film DUMPLIN, based on Julie Murphy’s bestselling novel of the same name. The book/film are about a “plus-size, teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, who signs up for her mom’s pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town.”
The cast of the film includes Danielle Macdonald, Jennifer Aniston, Odeya Rush, Dove Cameron, Harold Perrineau), Bex Taylor-Klaus and Ginger Minj. Dolly Parton contributes newly-recorded collaborations of her classic songs, in addition to six new original songs, to the soundtrack. Special guest vocalists include Sia, Miranda Lambert, Mavis Staples, Elle King, Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Danielle Macdonald, and Jennifer Aniston.
DUMPLIN will be released later in 2018 on Netflix in the U.S. and select international terrorities, and in select theaters in the United States.
