Emet feels bad about a lot of things in NBC’s new comedy series produced by Amy Poehler. She “cheats” on her husband by dreaming about sexy men each night and her mother is basically a travel agent for guilt trips — criticizing Emet for being a working mother or not making healthy snacks for her kids. And she’s very worried she’s starting to look like her mother. At work (where she is the only woman on her team), she gets her employees overly involved in her personal problems. Star Sarayu Blue says that the show is basically about “a woman who is trying to do everything well and not quite succeeding at anything.”
In the pilot episode we see Emet struggle with aging and the possibility that she’s turning into her mother, as well as her daughter’s new experience with dancing — one that has overly sexy and inappropriate undertones considering their young age.
