NCIS Season Premiere Sneak Peek: Sweet 16

NCIS starts Season 16 with something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

It is unclear what a wall full of lava lamps and a fashion throwback to the ‘60s has to do with the abduction of Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) at the end of last season, but be sure to check out the photos. For those who were not alive or have not seen photos from the era, let’s hope that fashions are not trending back to that nightmare. Also, check out the video, where Vance shows a “young man” what an “old man” (their words) can do. Never mess with a man who has a picture of Muhammad Ali in his office.

The “something new” is Abby’s replacement, Forensic Scientist, Kasie Hines, portrayed by new series regular, Diona Reasonover. Reasonover guested at the end of last season, and her quirky portrayal of a slightly-off-kilter genius should offer some fun, comedic turns this season.

There definitely will be the need for a few smiles as the situation centered on Leon’s abduction and Sloane’s (Maria Bello) torture continues to unfold. Nigel Hakim (BONES’s Pej Vahdat) was seen holding Leon hostage at the end of last season, and Vance is now in the custody of Hakim and his co-conspirators, where he either will comply or be the victim of Nigel’s worst intentions.

Very little could make Vance acquiesce to Hakim’s persuasion, unless the situation puts Leon’s children in danger. Pity Team Hakim if Leon’s children are threatened. A major threat to Hakim’s plan is Jack. She blames herself for losing her cool with Hakim and putting Leon in danger, and Jack Sloane is not a person to have as an opponent. Tough, smart, determined and not afraid to fight Hakim to the death, Jack is a very capable enemy.

Something borrowed and something blue? Gibbs (Mark Harmon) assumes Vance’s role as Director, a job that he neither wants, nor enjoys. So he is very blue. But the audience is not. For U.S. viewers, Harmon also is doing a guest shot on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, tonight at 10:00 p.m. on CBS.

Guest stars on tonight’s episode, “Destiny’s Child,” include the fabulous Jim Meskimen as Doctor Farrel Emerson, Robin Karfo, Keon Alexander, Naomi Grace, Alexa Hamilton, Chad Lindberg, James A. Watson, Jr., Lauren September, Cory Jacob, Jessica Gardner and Danielle Rayne.

NCIS airs tonight (September 25) AT 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and on Global TV in Canada.
