Donna Shellstrop is alive! On the last episode of THE GOOD PLACE Eleanor got the shocking news that her mother had actually faked her death years before. As you can imagine, she was understandably furious that her mother had abandoned her to start a new life. This week, she and Michael will take a journey to meet Donna. Before they do, however, Michael briefs Eleanor on what actually happened. Apparently, years before, Eleanor’s mother walked into a charity auction and bid $30,000 for a date with Gene Simmons. She didn’t actually want to pay, however, so she faked her death and disappeared, ending up in Nevada and calling herself Diana Tremaine. Michael warns Eleanor that they’re there to help her mother get into the good place, so she needs to focus on the mission and not on herself.
Of course, Eleanor is immediately furious at her mother and is determined to expose her as a fraud. Especially after she meets her mother’s new live-in boyfriend and his daughter and learns that Donna is running for Secretary of the PTA. Eleanor is convinced her mother is running a scam here and wants to ruin her life.
