Nate left the Waverider this season to try and get over his heartbreak over Amaya on LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and he doesn’t yet know that the Legends’ newest members — Charlie — is actually a shapeshifter who is now trapped wearing the face of his former girlfriend. But in this week’s episode, the pair are set to meet as Nate brings his father, Hank Heywood (guest star Tom Wilson), on board because he’s been complaining about how much of the budget the Legends are using. Then there’s the fact that Hank is clearly up to no good and seems to have his own plans for the Time Bureau and its employees. During a recent visit to the set of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, we spoke to the cast about Nate and Charlie’s first meeting and Hank’s secrets.
- Nate and Charlie.“As [you can guess], he’s a bit overwhelmed by the situation,” Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Charlie) says of the meeting. “And the team choose not necessarily the best tactic of ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’ He just stumbles upon her, so [he’s] quite in shock. And Charlie, being Charlie, doesn’t soften the blow at all. She makes the most out of the situation. In some ways, she helps Nate get over Amaya because when they do over the sort of initial confrontation, they do bond a little bit and that is quite beautiful to see.”
- The Legends Reaction to Hank and His Secrets. “Sara hates Hank, because Hank is not very nice to Ava,” Caity Lotz (Sara Lance) says. As for Hank’s secret plans, Lotz teases that “it starts to be uncovered, and at first, we don’t really know what’s going on, and things feel kind of conspiracy theory and then the team has to do some digging, which is also where Mona’s character comes in a lot. She’s got some information, [and] it’s kind of hard for her to get to the bottom of it, and we have to figure out what’s really going on. Meanwhile, Jes Macallan (Ava) hints that “there definitely is a tension between Hank and Ava constantly because she’s always trying to please him, right? He’s the head money guy and she’s just trying to do what’s right and [is] taking her job very seriously. The Hank thing gets very muddy for Ava and the Legends and what that all means because she has tunnel vision with these magical creatures, containing them, as you will.”
